Getting nearer to opening I think-- work being done inside and now there are benches out side and a pool table. So looks like its a pub of sorts. Marj

Thanks Marj was just thinking about that the other day waiting for your update as it is very local to us, bottom of the road in fact. Was hoping for a local, but also hoping it was'nt going to be a 'brit bar' with football, bingo, etc. Was hoping for a cypriot taverna type place, so where quiet. Go and have a look when it opens will you. Be over in a fewe weeks time. Mal

Ok will do -- I think they were just testing the other day cos the tables and chairs are now back inside --- I was hoping for a nice place to have a bite to eat and for me coffee (friends go for beer/ wine ) but with a pool table some how I don't think so hope it's not a sports type bar :bat oh well what ever nice it's opening again. I'm with Mal here, there are already too many Brit bars with huge tv screens showing sports, loud ear splitting musak and louder patrons.
Oh to find a lovely quiet hostelry with Greek back ground music where you can enjoy a drink and have a conversation !
Something like a Cypriot version of a Tapas bar where you could enjoy a few nibbles instead of a full blown meal.

Thanks exactly what we want! Just a stroll down the road for a nice quiet drink and chat. Leave the football bars to the tourist areas please. Ever since Harris left years ago we've been hoping for it. Mal

The only place we can find this is in our own and friends homes Mal.Shame because I do believe that there are a lot of us over here that really want this type of thing and hate the "Brit Bars'.

Give the customers what they want.

It's a recipe for success.

Would be good Alan, but do they ask? Dont think so. They see one type of bar opening and think I'll do the same. Not everyone likes Uk in Cyprus do they. I for one hate noisy football bars & karoke and I dont want one close enough to hear from home. So if the owners are listening, something comfortable, friendly and quiet please. Mal

When I was in business I always "gave the customer what they wanted".

That's why I retired early and live in a big villa in beautiful Pegeia.

It's that simple.

Well we have just been to " Chances" as it is now called --- what a lovely couple running this new establishment made us fee very welcome -- Scott and Michelle. They will be doing food once they get going. I must say as a bar it's got a lot going for it and yes they will have a section for "Tv / pool/ darts but to one side of the building -- there is a nice seating area where they have the makings of a cosy area in the winter when they light the fire. So Mal I hope your a happy bunny now. Marj

Sorry TD but it is still a "Brit Bar" not a cosy quiet Taverna with a few nibbles where you can hear yourself think.
Good luck to the couple,I would never put anyone down for trying to earn a living but it won't be for us.
Will keep looking for what we like without having to always go out for a meal.
Loud music and blaring TV's are just not our cup of tea.
