A very pleasant English couple have reopened Stroumpi Tavern, an extensive menu/takeaway, reasonable prices, other things planned for the future, quizzes etc.

Damn, I thought we were going to get something good in Stroumbi! Went to GP's and had a mediocre meal with frozen chips, frozen peas like bullets and a grubby table cloth .To be fair, hubby said the pie was ok but nothing to write home about.
The smokers sitting outside next to the open windows sent their mucky smoke all inside so rather pointless positioning.
Hopefully this couple will read these comments and do something different in order to make it work this time as I would still wish them well and success but not with frozen chips and veg etc.

I ate in GP's many times and never had frozen chips!! Plus if I have a bad experience I always give a restaurant a second chance!!!!

It would be fantastic lf someone could make a real go of this place.
In the time we have been here it has gone from mediocre to good to awful.
We wish Shirley and Keith all the best in their venture and hope we can enjoy good food, friendly service and a good quiz at a reasonable cost. :celeb2

We have been up to the Stroumpi Tavern tonight and had a lovely meal! They have a superb menu and have done the place up really nice and certainly not a dirty table cloth in sight, they have lovely 'proper' white tablecloths!!
I will have the menus but too much to post on here so if any one would like them I can PM them.

Sunday Lunch - what a treat!!
Superb garlic mushrooms for starter, OH had the home made pate with pickles - excellent
The main course was a choice of meats(ie real beef, Ham, Turkey etc)
Beutifully presented on warm plates!!!!
We did not have room for dessert, and I was sorry we had to leave so many of the fresh vegetables (real carrots, roasted parsnips etc etc.
We apolgised profusely for leaving so much, and were told, "Next time you come, let me know and I will arrange smaller portions" How about that for service?
We will return, a restaurant not to be missed

We were also at the Stroumbi tavern last Wednesday night, 3 people each choosing a different dish from the menu. My husband and our friend chose garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce to start, and the next time we visit I will have that as my main course, it was simply delicious. My fish (and chips) was so 'meaty' and though it was a regular portion I was unable to finish it all. I've read the posting from the Kathikas customer and wonder if he or she was speaking of the same tavern. The chips were most definitely home made, the vegetables were fresh, and the table linen was even fresher with not so much as a water mark on the table cover. The new owners, who happen to also prepare and cook the food, were very friendly and obliging. We've just called on some neighbours whom we know have booked for Friday night, to tell them of our lovely experience. Most certainly, we will be regulars and wish Shirley and Keith our very best wishes for the future.

Are they sponsoring this web forum , if not they certainly know how to get free advertising.

For this place to be successful it needs local support, its a long way for most people to travel and most would first go out of curiosity then end up thinking it too far.
I hope they do well.

Dont it just stick out like a sore thumb .. :huff
I have been letting it go until now ..
Others pay good money to advertise on here , I suggest they stop taking the p.i.5.5 ..

I doubt they have asked for all postings just people making comments. Maybe it should be moved to the Restaurant section :!:

I don't think anyone should make any comment having not visited the venue.
I have not been as yet but will in the near future, then is the time to to make comment.
The fact you may have had a not so good meal at the previous establishment does not mean you can judge it on past performance.
This is a new enterprise and I wish Shirley and Keith the best.
:cheers
