We were recommended to have a DASH-CAM fitted by our good friend Simon Emery (Deals on Wheels) at a place who specialising on all things electrical with cars.

So popped in this morning and was delighted to say he fitted a fantastic Dash Cam and included a 32 gb card as well as no cables in view. All for €95.00 Unbelievable. All in High Definition and voice recording as well. All the gizmos and gadgets. We are delighted.

Contact details if required; kouusoulos car audio (on facebook) Tel 26 941404-99435247 Ask for George. It is a Cypriot family business. Turn into the road where Akis Express is Hellenic Bank on the corner.

Thanks cameraman. I bought one from Lidl that plugs into the cigarette lighter and the cable keeps getting in the way, so worth going there and having one fitted properly.

Sergio, I would not even attempt to fit one myself. By having a proffesional fit it for me I have the FULL manufacturers warranty covered. Fit it yourself would invalidate any warranty as you may have caused damage.

I cannot see a €26.00 dash cam being anyway near as good as the High Tech one that I have had fitted.

However having said that I sincerely hope that yours lasts for many years and does what it is supposed to do.

Following an earlier thread I bought my dash cam from Amazon for under £30, but had it fitted for a small sum at the shop mentioned above.

I agree that they are very good, but €95 seems a lot. Does it feature GPS and live location and speed recording?

Not GPS however all the rest are recorded. The price included 32 gb microdisc.

Cameraman, could you please let me know if this is powered via the cigarette lighter?
I ask the question, because the one in my car has never worked. Thank you.

I cannot speak for cameraman, but mine was fitted in the same place and is hard wired to the ignition, on the same circuit as the accessory socket (modern phrase for fag lighter), so it only runs when the ignition runs.

Accessory sockets seem to have a habit of failing. I went to a very good auto electrician in Paphos (down the road almost opposite Zeka Tyres) and he fixed it in a couple of minutes.

NO! It is hard wired in and works as follows. When I turn on the ignition it starts up ans then is recording every thing. When parked and the ignition turned off it will record if anyone or anything bumps into it-this recording will only lasts for a few seconds before going off again. Hi tech stuff.

Thank you Effsie and cameraman for your replies. As I am not electrically minded, I think it is
excellent value, especially as it does not have cables hanging down, so will probably have one
fitted. The company who fitted your's, also repaired my in car cd'radio player 3 years ago, for
a very reasonable 30 euros, and it has worked perfectly ever since, so I would have confidence
in them fitting one for me.

You cheeky so and so! However, I do have a combined video/cd player in my home. Purchased one just before they finished making the video cassette players some years ago, so I can still watch my videos!!! :greetings

After reading this thread I got to thinking and decided to upgrade my dash cam. After quite a bit of hunting around, I decided on a Cobra Drive HD dash cam. This is quite a step up for me as it has both front and rear cameras, GPS so that it records speed, position and direction (and overlays your journey on Google Maps when you play it back on your PC), motion and impact detection in parking mode (so that if anyone wanders too close to your car, or someone hits it, the camera wakes up and starts recording and, most surprisingly, it has lane detection and, if it thinks you are drifting out of your lane (or are too close to an obstacle in front), it beeps loudly at you and comes up with a warning message.

I had it fitted by George and, at the same time, had a reversing camera fitted!

All sorted now!

Installation was €50 I think, as he had to cable two cameras.

The unit itself was on offer at £120, but is usually around £160 I believe.

Very pleased with it though.

Forgot to mention that it also has Bluetooth, enabling you to use the GPS in your phone.
