Hello all, Wondered whether anyone else has had problems with AIG home insurance out here in Cyprus? After requesting an assessor and it being ignored for three months ,Top Quotes ,our agent, got the assessor to visit. We had already had a derisory offer of abour 114.20 euros for water ingress through our flat roof spoiling the kitchen and shower room decor, of course the roof will need repairing to stop further leaks. Initially we called out an emergency plumber because a pipe on the flat roof burst suddenly, this coupled with torrential rain and storms and the weight of water caused the roof to leak into our bungalow. After the assessor had called the offer was upped with another 159.50 euros, still no where near the cheapest quote we had of 1500 and the dearest was 4,300 euros, who also mentioned that there would probably be needed more spent in the final repair. From research it seems that AIG have what used to be called a monopoly but because of their tentacles all over the world the American Insurance Group are now known as an Octopoly. Is there anyone who would arbitrate our claim, or anyone in Paphos People that has useful and relevant detailed comments please e.g. alternative insurance companies/agents? I have emailed the insurance ombudsman out here but no reply yet Why is it everything in Cyprus is so hard? Thank you.
