THE STORY OF THE YOUTUBE FAMILY
(Obviously not a true account)

How many married couples were in a happy relationship each with their own jobs and own incomes maintaining a balanced budget to run their lives comfortably. Children were the flux in the equation and all was happy in the world.
Then in 2020 the pandemic known as Covid 19 happened. No more separate lives, whole families were suddenly thrown together twenty four hours a day seven days a week. Lock down was mandatory, no going to work or school, no social life, only allowed to go shopping for essential food items. If you had a dog at least it was allowed to be exercised so one person at a time could go out for half an hour each day.
Tensions built up, the kids were bored and Mum and Dad began to realise that they had very little in common with each other.
Finally somebody exploded and violence flared. After an argument, one of the ‘dear little children’ chopped the head off the other ones teddy bear and strung up the headless body to hang off the bedroom door frame. The other ‘little angel’ then demolished the Lego model of the Millennium Falcon that had taken weeks to construct and flushed most of the bricks down the toilet!
Mum consoled the decapitated teddy’s owner while Dad tried to rebuild the Lego construction with whatever tiles that were left.
To no avail, the teddy’s head was sewn back on but Mum was never good with needles and teddy now had a cricked neck and a permanent squint to the left.
The Lego model was much depleted with none of the special features of the original. It no longer looked like the ‘Falcon’ more like a sparrow!

Nobody was speaking to each other and an icy atmosphere crept all over the house. The dog couldn’t believe his luck as he was now getting four walks a day as everybody sought an escape from the hell hole that was once a happy home.

Shopping was a nightmare, only food shops were open, there was a shortage of toilet rolls for some reason and the queues to enter the shop were all wearing Mum’s patience very thin. On top of that having a face mask on all the time got so claustrophobic that by the time she got back home she was fuming.
“What’s for dinner?” unwisely asked the depleted Lego owner.
With that Mum exploded and in a fit of rage, she grabbed the Millennium Sparrow and broke it up again finally throwing the bricks in the rubbish bin.
Tears flowed, then in an equal fit of rage the Teddy’s head was ripped off again and thrown out of the window.
More tears flowed and there was lots of screaming.

Dad took the dog out.

On his return there was a smell of cooking and hopefully dinner would be served up. Laying the table and keeping very quiet, he waited patiently for the sound of the meal being served up.
“Come on kids, dinners ready”
“Don’t want none” said one
“I want my Teddy back” said the other

The dinner was brought through from the kitchen and thrown onto the table!
“Hope it chokes you all” was the comment from Mum as she flopped onto the sofa and put the telly on.

An early night for everyone was in order, Mum stayed on the sofa, the kids cried themselves to sleep and Dad did the washing up then turned in with a Raymond Chandler novel to ease him to sleep.

Next morning and everybody had calmed down so Dad called a meeting to try and sort everything out.
There were apologies all round from everyone and a promise to put all the wrongs to rights.
“We have to try and live with this thing by combining together on one theme” said Dad “Any suggestions?”
“How about writing a book” said Mum
“We don’t know anything about writing” was the kid’s reaction.
“All right what about making a music video, we have the equipment and the ability. I can play guitar, your Mum can play the piano and you two can sing. What about it?”
The reaction was incredible and soon the basis of a song was laid down. Singing to the tune of a well known pop song but with their own lyrics they slowly put the whole thing together. The whole concept of the lock down situation came out in the song. They worked tirelessly at it for days bringing every aspect of Covid into vogue. They paused only for food and drink, until finally they were happy with the result.
“Right set up the webcam” said Dad
The recording was an immediate success and went viral on Youtube, keeping the family sane but most of all together.
There were many other recordings made by them inspiring other people to do the same. By their efforts people were entertained and no doubt many lives saved from domestic violence!
