Well we're here! Been here for just 10 days
Waiting for container to arrive but are not too badly off as we shipped out a load of furniture from Stephs flat last year.
Have just had a satellite dish installed so we can get UK tv. Ordered new car but there is an 8 month waiting list so have bought an old Suzuki Vitara as a stop gap.
Pool is all up and running. Waiting for the hot tub to arrive now.
We have made some new friends and everyone has been very helpful so far.
Having the large patch of weed ridden dirt that passes for a garden surveyed tomorrow to have a landscape design done. Will probably do most of the work ourselves but neither of us have a flair for the design side so thought it best to pay someone who knows what they are doing.
The dogs traveled with no major dramas and they seem to be adapting to the hot weather quite well.
The only problem we did have was when we arrived at Paphos Airport. There was just the 2 of us and we had to collect both the dogs from "airside" but were not allowed to take them out of the transit cages until we had cleared the terminal building.
Can you immagine trying to navigate the place with 3 trollies?
One with all the luggage one with a huge cage containing a Lab sized dog and a smaller cage with our Parsons Russell in it!
This is not the same with all carriers it seems. We used Air Supply Shipping and although they were quite good, in all honesty I could not recommend them.
Steph has been bitten to bits by some little fly things but they obviously dislike the taste of me as I have been left alone.
The most surprising thing so far has been the number of snakes we have seen. We really must learn to recognise the Blunt head Viper.
We have had a bar-b-q every night except one since arriving!
Can't wait for my "toy car" to arrive. there are some great roads to drive.
Went yesterday to sort out car insurance and I have to say I can't recommend Pacific insurance enough.
They have bent over backward to help us. For example. All the other insurance brokers we went to said they could NOT insure a car on UK plates. They would only do so after my kit car had been changed to Cyprus plates. NOT so said Pacific. They will insure the imported vehicle on the Chassis/VIN number.
They have also insured the Vitara fully comprehensive for ANY driver between 25 and 70 for less than the other brokers wanted for just 2 drivers.
They also said if any of the drivers were below 25 or above 70 they could drive but we would just need to inform them before so that they could issue a temporary cover note.
There were many other things that made Pacific stand out above the others as well. :clap

I Will keep updating this diary as we continue on this new adventure in the hope that it helps others.
This may be somewhat sporadic until we get our own internet connection, as at the moment we are having to use our neighbors wireless connection which is a bit flakey to say the least.

See you all at the taverna night.

Brian & Steph

Cheers Brian,
Do you feel suitably relaxed enough to stand facing eastwards and drop your pants to the west while sipping a chilled drink in memory of your old boss ?!
Go on son, Just do it.
Gary

Hi did you know you don't need the blood tests doing on the dogs unless your planning to take the dogs back to the uk. saving you money on the blood tests. i have checked with DEFRA.
