Just transferred some funds over through Currency Fair into my Alpha Account and they have only charged me €2. Have they seen sense at last. On all previous 'transfers in' have I have been charged €5.

Has Christmas arrived early????? Have they made a mistake?????

I will report again if they suddenly nick the other €3.

I was puzzled by your comments, so I trawled through my Alpha statements, and I have never been charged when I have transferred money. I use Currency Solutions, although I don't suppose that makes any difference. The only charges I have had are for a monthly statement - €2.40.

Hi travellingal,

Just been having a check through my statements too. Very strange really as when I have used Currency Solutions, I have not been charged anything for incoming transfers but when using Currency Fair I have always been charged €5. I have complained to them about this charge but they have always maintained that it's a standard Swift payment charge, it's always niggled me seeing that it's only an electronic transfer into my account with my money, so the €2 charge was a nice little surprise.
On this occasion my money exchange has only cost me €5 and I got €1.164 so I'm not complaining about that at all. I can't remember what CS used to charge but €15 springs to mind.

I do internet banking with Alpha these days so don't have the €2.40 charge anymore although they did charge me €15 for a little 'use once' password generator..........cheeky sods.

The small print in the charges section of the local bank's terms and conditions say when they charge for incoming payments and when they do not.

I use TT Moneycorp to transfer into my Hellenic account. Initially Hellenic charged 8 euros but this went down to zero when Moneycorp changed the method of transfer. It might be worth talking to money transfer company to see if there are alternatives. I did.
