Newcastle play Huddersfield that weekend.
The balance of power shifting maybe ?
Never.

As long as there's mackems obsessively monitoring things like how many toon fans turn up for a pre-season friendly at Shamrock there'll be no power shift here.... :P

Martin,

Small club with small minded people. Did you see that the owner of one of their French targets stated that "...I would not bother advising him of the approach as Sunderland are too small a Team!. Says it all really!

Likely to be over for the August Night Out - I think Discopants may be too - if so sit him between you and I and we can advise him of the error of his ways!

Oooh I'd love to sit between you two !
You know, this attitude you lot have of being something you are not is exactly why so many followers of other football clubs cheered when your relegation was confirmed.
Maybe a season of struggle in the fizzy pop league may make you see yourselves for what you are.

I see Newcastle have kindly stepped aside from our game in Utrecht to allow the mackems to go ahead with their little trip to Ajax.

With over 100 actual competitive European games under our belt, it was felt only fair to allow our underprivileged neighbours a chance to travel abroad for a change - let's face it, pre-season is as close as they're going to get...

Maybe it is for now. Your club are great at stepping aside you've stepped aside to allow players such as Ronaldinho, Deco, Rooney et al join other clubs for years how gracious of you.
BUT and you know this is true, The English FA have sided with the Premier club. Simple as................

Made me laugh when the statement they released said they were worried about Newcastle and mackem fans only being 30 miles apart - you would think they would have realised they're only 12 miles apart normally and somehow manage to avoid daily mass rioting! :doh

Obsessed.

Even now, when they're in the ascendancy for the first time in living memory, I think a lot of mackems are strugging to come to terms with the fact we'll never care about them the way they do about us. :P

Some interesting statistics:

mackems - new Geordie manager, 30 million pounds of new players, best ever start to a Premier league season. Last home game = 37,000

Newcastle - just been relegated, owner wants out, no manager, 10 players sold and none brought in. Last home attendance = 44,000

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Forever in our shadow.

We are back to the obsession with attendances.
You can thank the death of Sir Bobby for that. Many of the half wits at the game were riding on a new wave of loyalty after the great man's death
You know that your lot were practically giving away those tickets.
It's that long since those fans had seen you win they thought they'd see it for themselves.
Our attendance was a mystery to me. The town was dead after the game too. Don't know why.
We will have to agree to disagree but I stand by my notion that your club has a bigger population to draw on than mine and whilst you will argue over that you know it is true.
Sheff Wed had 3,000 there, Blackburn at ours had 300 ! no joking.
That narrows it down a bit, then there's all those freebies you were giving out.
Gary
PS Please change your avatar and take off that has been failure of a manager !
PPS Note I refer to Sunderland as a town and not a City.

The only reason he isn't manager is that he would be unwilling to be Ashley's puppet - the horrible cockney sheister knows Big Al wouldn't stand for any of his bull so he's too scared to take him on.

Far better stick with nice guy Hughton, who's so grateful to have the job he won't make any waves even when being bent over and shafted repeatedly.

The club is in complete limbo until we can get rid of the fat man. Even promotion would be a complete waste of time with that waste of DNA in charge.

It's just so unbelievably frustrating - the utter idiot apparently continues to think he can make money out of the club, despite the fact that every single thing he's touched since he arrived has turned to absolute cr@p.

I mean, the bloke was a billionaire, so one assumes there must be at least a shred of basic animal intelligence lurking somewhwere behind that vacant facade, so how can he continue to consistently get absolutely everything so very wrong??

He now seems to think he can get us promoted on a shoestring then sell the club for twice as much - probably even flog a few more players in January too and trouser the profit for good measure. I confidently predict we will not get promoted under the current regime, and to be honest I wouldn't really want us to.

I don't often agree with you but I do agree with you here. You probably will not get promoted.
It seems as though Agent Ashley has turned down an offer to buy the club today.
I would think that means he is staying.
I agree Hughton comes over as a yes man and will not ask for much.
Did you read the article in The Mail about Strachan's wish list ?
It contains Jack Wilshire and Macheda on loan. Griffin at full back. A couple of Villa youngsters for midfield, Kevin Philips and that black Scottish striker at Wolves Kuwelmo or similar. What a difference between him and Hughton.
If your club do not go up at the first time of asking, I think you could be there for a while. It won't get any easier.
Gary

See, if even a mackem can see the patently obvious, what on earth is worng with the stupid fat man.

Off the market again now, don't think he ever intended to sell. One of his many lies was that the only reason he didn't appoint Shearer was because the club was for sale, so why appoint Hughton now. Useless, incompetent, liar.

The plan to sell the naming rights to the ground is a blatant kick in the teeth for the fans - he's tainted our heroes, decimated our team, now he wants to kill our heritage. Words cannot adequately espress my contempt for this disgrace to humanity.

p.s. how did you get on in the Carling Cup last night?

Oh last night we were beaten on pens by Aston Villa after we outplayed them. You know the Aston Villa predicted by many to break into the top 4.
We are not there but we are getting there. Niall Quinn's 5 year plan is on track.
Now let's talk about your fortunes.
You should all start showing some respect to Mr Ashley or he might do even more to upset you. I think he's doing a grand job
Anyway the frontrunners for your ground's new name are
The Franks Factory Flooring ( I love carpets me) Arena
Durex Park (well they cater for 40,000 pricks a week)
Slimming World Stadium :smilielol
The San Giro :pow
And there's more !

I would concentrate on worrying about your own team if I were you - I make that nearly a month without a win, out of the Carling Cup and Darren Bent's confidence shot to pieces - are the wheels coming off Geordie Bruce's bandwagon already??

Don't think so. We outplayed West Ham, Villa and Spurs. We've got Arsenal next and we'll lose that one then the tide will turn.
Don't think the wheels have come off but we are in a difficult league, after all.
Just heard on tv something about Hughton not being able to use any of that £20m in January, doesn't surprise me, Martin, what is Ashley doing ?

We are supposed to be buying Robert Green from West Ham for about £8m.
West Ham are then gonna buy Andy Carroll for £4/5m.
I like Brucey's way of thinking !
Give someone the assetts to strip you of the decent players you have left !

I'm watching the England match down the pub with Roger (Lookingforward9) later as it happens - I'll pass on your regards! :D

Can't quite believe you're trying to pull the "mackem player in England squad" line by the way - do the names Shearer, Beardsley, Cole, Lee, Howey, Smith, Owen, Ferdinand, Dyer, Jenas, Barton mean anything to you?? Got a lot of catching up to do yet bonny lad!

p.s. you collected your brown bus pass yet?? My old man swears by it, reckons you can get all the way to Whitby for free...

Well, Darren didn't do himself any favours last night. He had no service whatsoever, and I was watching him and he was making the runs but the midfield seemed so packed there was no way through the middle and the wingers just didn't do it although you couldn't fault Milner who must have lost a stone during the match !
In a way it's good news for us cos the little chance he has of going to the World Cup is by being the leading scorer in the Premiership.
In fact, it's the only chance he has. Capello has more or less said it's between him and Defoe.
Put your money on Defoe but I personally think if Darren scores the goals he may get there ahead of Heskey.
Gary.

News of super Shola's imminent call-up for Nigeria takes the number of likely Newcastle players participating in next year's World Cup to 4, with Coloccini, Gutierrez and Geremi already there - not bad for a Championship team. Could get even better if Harper's form is recognised as the answer to the problem England goalkeeping position, or Lovenkrands makes it back into the Denmark squad.

How many mackems will be there?

:D :D :D
You'll try anything won't you but you are scraping the barrell here !
We may only have two but could have four and that doesn't include anyone we buy in January.
The only reason those four overpaid has beens are still at your club is cos you couldn't sell them AND
They would not get into our first team squad let alone our first team.
Lordy Lordy
Gary

You're seriously trying to tell me that 2 Argentinian internationals couldn't get a game for the mackems - and you say I'm the deluded one! :doh

I'm telling you straight.
They would not get into our team. Guitierrez is hopeless and Colocinni is a liability.
Let me remind you Guitiereeez would be up against Andy Reid or Steed Malbranque and Joker Collocini would be up against Ferdinand, Turner,Mensah(Captain of Ghana) or Da Silva( Captain of Paraguay).
If you think he's better than them it's not me who is deluded.
Gary

Players like Turner, Reid and Ferdinand are all decent enough Premier League players, but none of them would even come close to getting a game for Argentina - it's difficult to judge good players playing in such a rubbish team, but if you watch Gutierrez in particular playing for the Argies, where he's alongside the likes of Messi, Higuain & Tevez, he's different class.
