On here and other sites, there is an annoying blank, white page with a x top right hand corner which when clicked on makes page disappear only to reappear when clicking on a new post. Tried most things listed to no avail. Help.

Delete the Addons in Internet explorer 8 and see if the issue persists.

I would also suggest a malware scan since these pop up pages is caused by malware, which is designed to disrupt computer operations.

If you have not already fixed it have a look in your internet options, (click on the cog up in the right hand side of the page, below the red cross and then on Internet options). Under the general tad you will see an internet address. If that is not your home page then change it. That should work. some of these malware programs change your home page or a link in your favourites.
