I know this topic has been raised before. but i need a bit of help.

I have logged onto JCCSmart's website and managed to remember my log in details.

When I tried to renew my Road Tax it asked for my Owner's Reference Number.

I have tried with both my passport numbers, old and new to no avail.

Does anyone know where I can find my Owner's Reference Number?

It is item C9 on your registration document (left column near the bottom), and most probably your Cyprus ID Number (the number you use for everything here from income tax to medical treatment).

Many thanks, KG. :bearhug
It worked. :clapping

I had no idea where to find this.
I am in UK at the moment so I couldn't go to the bank like I did last year.

Paid it online.

Strange though........

The fee was €116.90 no problem with that.

They rounded the figure to:.....€116.00 :smilielol

So each time they do this they lose €1. Anywhere else rounding would have gone to €117.00
This from a country in financial difficulties.

Don't go to Cyprus car Tax site, go direct to JCC Smart site and click on Car Tax Renewal.
It then asks you for you Reg number. I presume you enter your new one then.

Thanks for the advice, as I dont have my car docs with me in the UK thought that the number would be the last 3 of my Passport No. (as before when I renewed). Its now a number thats given by the transport dept when the car is registered, not sure what column its in as i had to phone Nicosia to find out. All done and dusted and now half a head short of hair after all the pulling of hair and 4 phone calls to Paphos and Nicosia

In a country where burocracey can be so frustrating...actually paying your car tax is just so easy.....providing you have the information of course!!! Mine took less than a minute

Its OK so long as they dont shift the goal posts, 2 years ago when I renewed the tax on my old car it was the last 3 of my passport number and now they've changed the criteria - did anyone see a notice about this?

Renewed our 2 vehicles last night and it's still the last 3 digits of the passport number I used to register both vehicles 10 years+ ago. I renewed online via JCC.

Same here - my old passport details as found in Section C9 on logbook - last three digits. Costs the same as last year - 281 Euros for a 2.5 litre twincab.

That's not fair, I only saved 50c on the rounding down!!! :huff ;)
Using JCC is so easy. Apparently you can also pay at a Post Office this year.

The only problem people whose passport number is still used will have, is that when the passport gets renewed the log book details are incorrect and have to be changed. That is why the system was altered. The problem also arises when you sell or purchase a vehicle where the owners passport details have changed. I have encountered this.

I sold a car recently (last month) that had my old passport last three numbers and there didn't appear to be any problem though I did attach copies of my previous passport and Residency to the Transfer Document.

My magic number is the last 3 digits of my ID card number, which is also my yellow slip number. A much better idea as it will never change as with a passport.

The downside is having to pay 257 euros. Serve me right for buying a CRV.

CRV...is that a Cyprus Retirement Vehicle?

I've got a little Toyota Spacio 18 years old...cost €116 road tax.

Just taxed my car quite easily.
Noticed that my address was slightly wrong (it said 7 whereas it should be 27)
I 'clicked here' to go to the RTD site http://rtd.mcw.gov.cy/WebPhase1/gui/Com ... sp?lang=en
to 'register' but whatever details I enter, they don't seem to be able to recognise me.

I am NOT and have never been a CY resident, but do have an Aliens card from 1997!!

Any suggestions as to how to correct my address??

:)

I got same problem when went to change my RTD registered address ... I did send email to that addy at RTD site.

Perhaps I will never get a response, so I would stop by at local office in Mesogi on an occasion.

BTW, this time they [JCC] asked for insurance's details. I didn't get such thing back in 2014.

Just had this PM - not sure why it couldn't be posted to the forum :-(

I have just changed my address using the above website. When I registered the system did not recognise my full Cyprus/Alien Number but when I left off the first number it let me into the system. Then an email was sent to me giving me a User Name to go with the password I had already provided. I logged in with this and I found the screen that allowed me to change my address details. However no vehicle is recorded in my name even though I have owned one for several months! It did show my Cypriot Driving Licence information.

Mine has five 'printed' numbers with a 'hand written' one in front - neither seems to work

Well, I did try 7 and 6 digits from AN, did try other ID from pink slip with letters and dash - no dice.
Seems to me, Cyprus is not the place where everything is up to a code (as in California).

JB what is the definition of a Cyprus resident? What is the process to "achieve" it?

I have a "yellow slip" but as far as I am concerned I merely followed the law which said that I had to register if I intended to reside in Cyprus for more than 4 months (I took this to mean individual trips to Cyprus totalling over 4 months in any 12 month period).

Having got the yellow slip, I don't consider myself "resident". I consider myself "registered".

What are the requirements to get an "aliens card" or a Cyprus ID card?

Of course speculation over the UK and/or Cyprus leaving the EU (very silly if either do) is behind this question ..

Hi Big Nev, can you give some advice? At what point does it become more economical to own a car in Cyprus and not to rely on hiring a car everytime you visit, with hire car pick up and drop off at Paphos airport.

I come over 6 times a year, 14 weeks a year in total.

What do you think?

I live in the UK permanently and always have done - we visit Cyprus for holidays for max 1 month

In 1997, we tried to 'pretend' that we were resident so that we could keep our 'duty-free' car out of bond when we went home

Sadly, the lady in immigration in Nicosia didn't believe us!!!!!!!!! So we were left with a 'half completed' resident application

Anyway as someone said - back on topic .... any ideas how I can correct my address on the RTD website having taxed my car????

I am trying to tax my car, which I bought last year.

I am in the UK and do not have the registration document, so do not know the number at C9 on that form.

I have tried the last three numbers on my passport and the last three numbers on my old passport. No luck.

Any ideas on a way forward, which department would help?

Thanks

I have read this request recently on one of the Cyprus forums, but can't just remember where at the moment, this web page might give you some ideas or just try 'google'.

What I did (smart 4rse answer, sorry  ) was to scan and save the Reg Doc then I have it on my laptop whenever I need it!

Is there no way someone could access this for you?? Alternatively, could you phone the RTD??

I am in the UK and do not have the registration document, so do not know the number at C9 on that form.

What I did (smart 4rse answer, sorry  ) was to scan and save the Reg Doc then I have it on my laptop whenever I need it!

Is there no way someone could access this for you?? Alternatively, could you phone the RTD??

That's what I did in 2014 and they gave me the three digits.

I got same problem when went to change my RTD registered address ... I did send email to that addy at RTD site.

Perhaps I will never get a response, so I would stop by at local office in Mesogi on an occasion.

I e mailed RTD .... AND .... got a reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr
During the registration procedure, for identity, you have to choose on the field type identity, new type and you have to use the owner reference number which is on the Registration Certificate of your car above your name. It writes:
A/xxxxxx
Furthermore the email you use for the registration has to be unique in our system, never been used before from somebody else.
If you face any more problems do not hesitate to contact us again.

So, what she means is .... use the numbers that you find on the Registration Certificate under [C.9] but only the bit between the /
My number is A/000000ABCD/0 (I have substituted my real number for ABCD)

So, to register on the RTD website
For 'identification type' (drop down menu) I selected 'New Type'
and then for 'Identity No/Company No' I put 000000ABCD
and .... it worked.
I got an e mail with my log in details and was able to change my address

:woohoo

Well, ;) I've been trying to post for two days, but it turns out that this site gives an "SQL Error" if you post Greek characters  so following advice from Neil, I removed the Greek and it worked!!

:cheers
