I wonder if anyone can help me?

On Sunday November 27 I'm flying from the UK to Paphos initially to stay for two months but it could be longer.

From recalling my last visit for 7 days in January 2010, most places had closed down for the summer!!!!

So, could you please advise 'What's On???'. Many thanks

Btw I am a single, semi-retired 54 year old self-employed Soccer Coach having spent 10 years in Saudi Arabia until 2003 before returning to the UK eight years ago.

I'm based in Margarita Gardens, Paphos.

I look forward to hearing from anyone!!!

Best wishes

Mick

Margarita Gardens is on Ikarou Street - from TOTK turn right at the big church lights, left at Relax and it's along there, where the Chris Casino is. Friends of mine have an apartment there, that's how I know.

Mick - few places are open at this time of year, but you will be in the right area to get into the tourist area. I don't know if it's your "thing", but there is an ex-pat club, The Phoenix just down the road from you - at Chris Casino go left, past Relax and it's on the right just past the DIY shop. They seem to have lots of activities going on - quiz nights, etc and they do Sunday lunches too. Not sure what membership is, but I remember thinking it was very reasonable. :greetings

Diane - I am 5ft 10, long curly hair that I have had shaved at least 5 times for various charities. The last time was April for the Marie Curie Cancer Hospice in Bradford. Thankfully it has grown back!!!

Jean - thanks for telling me about the Phoenix Club. I will look them up.

Neil - I am a cinema, pub, walking, outings, restaurants person - in fact anything!!! Geoff has just e-mailed me regarding 'Paphos Warriors FC'.

I'm planning to watch Liverpool v Man City 'live' on Sunday kick off 4pm UK time. Can anyone recommend a good pub to watch it?

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me. I look forward to landing in Paphos on Sunday!

Mick

If you go out of the bottom exit, or through the Nereus Hotel, straight down that road until you come to the junction with the little park on your right, take that road and the George and Dragon is at the end.

Cyprus is 2 hours ahead of the UK - now get your packing done :greetings :greetings

Welcome, Mick

Replied a while back and deleted my whole big message :doh.

Yes, we usually in the George and Dragon for our premiership games (I'm Newcastle and the other half is Villa - he's having a sulk about it at the moment). They show about 90% of premiership games including all the games you don't get in the UK. Including the 3pm (or 5pm) kick-off on a Saturday.
Alternatively, there's the First and Last pub which is a short walk from there as well (I think it's closer to you). There's a few others as well in walking distance, you shouldn't miss a match at all.
You didn't mention which team you follow some pub have a bigger following for specific teams etc.

There's a lot of places closed during the winter months, particularly February, but there's that many places to start off with I'm sure you could still got to a different place every night within a short drive/walk.

I'm surprised that either Neil or Jean having replied to this thread haven't shamelessly plugged the Paphos People Xmas party. http://www.paphospeople.com/ppforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18997
It's on the 10th Dec paid by the 3rd as you're flying out end of Nov you should have enough to come. Alternatively there's PP night out usually last Friday of the month, so you should be here for the January one.

You're in walking distance of 2x 10 pin bowling places and a cinema (if it's still open?)

Jean - I'm trying to do my packing BUT everyone wants to take me out to say 'goodbye'!!!!

Enopi - thanks for your welcome.

Alison - thanks for your reply.
Fyi - I love watching most teams and have stood on the kops at Anfield, Elland Road and the Stretford End cheering the home teams.

After football coaching in Saudi Arabia for 10 years, I returned to the UK and was appointed Manager of bradford City U9 from 2004 until 2007. From 2007 until 2010 I was employed as a Development Coach for Manchester United 6, 7 and 8 year olds based in Yorkshire. From 2010 until the present I have coached Bradford University FC. And for the past 7 years I was Reserve & U19 Manager at Bradford (Park Avenue) FC + Guiseley Reserves + first team Manager of Ossett Town in the Evo-Stik League and until August this year, Manager of Brighouse Town in the Northern Counties East Premier Division. I still coach the 4, 5 and 6 year olds at Sherburn FC in South Leeds - my last session is tomorrow night :-(

They have predicted a freeze in the UK next week....... I can't wait to land in Paphos on Sunday

Ali - what does a PP night out involve?

And I forgot to mention, just recently I went to watch Bradford City v Cheltenham, Man Utd 2-2 Benfica on Tuesday and Saturday I'm going to the Man Utd v Newcastle United match.

And how do you put a foto on your own page?

Again, thanks for everyone's help - it is good to know there is a network of people in Paphos that welcome you!!!

Mick - a PP night out is a meal, drinks, laughter and a social atmosphere - it's the Christmas Party on 10th December, have a look at the posting at the top of the Paphos Day to Day section.

By a photo on your own page, do you mean an avatar under your name? I find the best programme to use is http://www.tinypic.com - select the photo from your file, then click on the resize button, and if for avatar click on avatar - if a photo to go in the main body of a post, click message board, then click on upload now. You will then have to enter the security words that come up, and when the programme has done what it must, just copy and paste the code onto your message. For avatar you do this in your User Control Panel. Any probs just shout :greetings
