Paphos People

Does anyone else get warnings that Paphos People is an unsafe site and doesn't have a suitable safety certificate.

It used to be safe, but now comes up with warnings every time.

Can admin have a look and see what is going wrong?

Funny you should mention that because just recently when I log onto it I now
get "not secure" in the top address bar.
However my Malware Bytes anti-virus does not advise of any problem.

Seems to be which 'system' you use to log in, I get it using Google Chrome but not when I use Windows 10 or Android Smart phone. !!!

I am sure that is right. I use Google Chrome with Windows 7.
On my wife's Ipad (latest version of IOS) no such problem.
I am sure Admin will make any necessary changes - if there are any.

First of all you should manage your local certificates, not the site !

Or use Win10 with Edge

I am on Windows 7 until Microsoft withdraw support for it in a couple of years time.
If they have not brought in a version of Windows more like we are all used to (i.e. W9 or 11)
there is NO WAY I MOVE TO W10. I have tried it, and HATE it. I dislike Edge also.
I will use another operating system for my desktop, together with Google Chrome browser.

It's not a problem if any site still using HTTP .. many official sites from companies using HTTPS, but it's not a mandatory !

I became aware of this.I use Firefox and windows 10. It is the owners responsibility to protect those who use HIS forum. I have put https:// in front of the www.paphospeople to protect my computer. Until it appears on the heading I will not be logging in again until it is rectified.

You don't need to put "https:" at front of your URL - it will not change the protocol.

If Neil will be convinced spend money, then you'll use automatically.

Sometimes this site is very unsafe it can be full of hidden surprises and viruses wanting to attack you just for saying your bit, that said I believe on this site there is a very good anti-virus tool called Neil and Mad, I also believe it has a couple of nannies who will help sort it out.

How to understand to phrase ?! "this site" you mean PP site/forum ?

I am a newbie but I have no problem. with the safeguards i have never had a warning of been unsafe.

We have been members since September 2011, and have had no problems on this site.
We did have problems on another site that closed down a couple of years age.
If you have a problem then it will have been downloaded from another site and is waiting to be triggered.
Run Malwarebytes and adware removal tools to clean your computer that should fix any problems.

The issue is not malware downloaded from the site.

The message is that the site itself is not secure and this is the description of that message.

"View site information - Info or Not secure
The site isn't using a private connection. Someone might be able to see or change the information you send or get through this site.

On some sites, you can visit a more secure version of the page:

Select the address bar.
Delete http://, and enter https:// instead.
If that doesn't work, contact the site owner to ask that they secure the site and your data with HTTPS."

If I switch to HTTPS, I get the message that the site is not fully secure.

Exodus the last Windows I used was xp. Why not try out one of the many Linux os's. You can download Linux and burn onto a CD, then you try it out by booting from CD, this means your present os on HDD will be untouched and safe. I like cinnamon, puppy and debian, big choice !

I am now being told today on my IPad that the Paphos People site is not secure

None for me but I don't use chrome

iPad don't use Chrome, they use Safari. On my desktop Mac I use mainly Safari, but also Chrome. I have not received a warning from either browser.
