Well you may scoff at our achievements but I don't see either of you provided anything better so far

If you check the above record, the TOON have won the main league (whether that be as League 1 or as now known the Premiership) 5 times in their history, The FA Cup 6 times, In the FA Cup Final 13 times, The Uefa European Cup Once, semi finalist also

Its not what you've won since you've been around to see it, it what the history of your club has to prove its a big club and according to the records, we're not far off the pace of the top 4 in these terms

Pete, Nobody is scoffing ( after all I treat my body like a temple, and Sunderland must be on a diet). However a check of those same history ooks willshow that when the toon were riding high, (excluding the old second div) was before my birth and certainly while I still had hair, and flares were in the process of development.

Well in that case, in my life time, the TOON have only won the Intertoto Cup, as their last real trophy was the European Fairs Cup in '69, not sure of the date but I'm sure it was just days before I was born

English era
The 1967 tournament saw the emergence of English clubs with Leeds United reaching the final. Although they lost to Dinamo Zagreb, they returned the following season and defeated Ferencvaros to become the first English club to win the competition. The subsequent victories of Newcastle United F.C. and Arsenal F.C. and a second win for Leeds United saw English clubs winning the last four Fairs Cup tournaments. The last final saw Leeds United declared winners on away goals after drawing with Juventus 3-3 on aggregate.


UEFA Cup
The 1971-72 season saw the competition taken over by UEFA and relaunched as the UEFA Cup. By replacing the trophy, renaming the competition and revising the entry regulations, UEFA effectively ended the Fairs Cup. On 22 September 1971, a one-off match was played between cup-holders Leeds United and three-time winners FC Barcelona to decide who would gain permanent possession of the original trophy. Barcelona won this play-off 2-1.

And doesn't UEFA stand for Union of European Football Associations, so it was a European Cup, maybe not the European Cup which in now the Champions League Cup which you are on about

In either case, I don't see the Makems anywhere on either list

Agreed Pete you won't but let's face it the Fairs cup never was and never will be The European Cup.
That's what Man Utd, Celtic and Liverpool have won.

Memories are more important if you have very few of them.

We Forest Fans have a couple of big European memories but obviously not in the same league as the Fairs Cup

In todays money orientated game league position and "the big money" is everything......I for one would swap our league position for one of the european cup wins. Still means we have another one

I don't really care about what happened before I was born - my best toon memories are the Keegan days the first time around - the death or glory win over Pompey to secure survical, the march to the title the following season, capped by the 7-1 demolition of Leicester on the last day, and taking the Premier league by storm over the following years, playing some of the best football I've ever seen.

I may not have seen us lift any silverware but I've been privileged to watch some fine players in their prime - Beardsley, Shearer, Ginola, Ferdinand, Lee etc etc and experienced brilliant trips to places like Milan and Barcelona watching Sir Bobby's team in the Champion's League - winning trophies is over-rated, just enjoy the experience!

Well Andy, it started off asking people to list what they club had achieved in its history but seems to have turned into something & nothing now

Please add your opinions freely

I understand that word NOTHING its whats we got in the BLUES cabinet.

But then we was the first english club to play in Europe in 1956 we drew 0-0 to Internazionale.

In 1960 we came runners up to Barcelona in the fairs cup.

best of all we beat villa in the league cup.

first club to sell a player for a million, our Trev
and theres more,
was bombed 20 times in the 2ww. no jokes please

but best moment for me was when we played in the play offs and won,
That to me is what football is about.being there and your team being there and wanting to play for you and not just for the money.

I think Magilton is one of the best young managers around at the moment. I've seen 4 games since he's been in charge, 2 last season and 2 this season. Last season was all about getting the team more stabilised and you could see the difference even between february (when i saw them vs Palace) and in april (when I saw them against Derby). This season is even better, much better flowing football, nice passes and we can actually score goals now too as I saw vs Bristol City. I'll put us down for the playoffs this year with the signings we made in January (especially Sumulikoski, what a player he's turning out to be so far) and you can bet your money i'll be in the uk to go and see them!

A couple of things for your notice with the above;-

1 They only cover the trophy's we won, not the ones where we finished runners up or managed to get to the Semi Final.

2 If you look closely you will see it includes a league and cup double, the first of the 20th Century.

3 You will see we have one 2 European trophies, one of them was won twice.

4 We have won 8 major trophys since you won your last one.

I think you will see it compares very favourably to your lot's.
